Program
Description:

Wilderness canoeing or backpacking trips. Starting at our remote base in eastern Maine, campers spend two to eight weeks in the woods, learning traditional canoeing or backpacking, camping, and cooking, with a focus on low-impact, low-tech living. The most significant personal growth takes place when young people take moderate risks under safe, well-supervised conditions. The wilderness setting is limitless in this regard, and youth find plenty of opportunity for managed risk-taking. They return home with greater self-esteem, a sense of the importance of caring for the environment and for those around them, and the realization that they had a lot of fun!
